Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1954, Griselda Ann Lennox (the Griselda disappeared into the Scottish mist) sang in the school choir and eventually attended the Royal Academy of London on a scholarship, studying classical piano and flute. Odd-jobbing in the city, she met Dave Stewart and took up with him musically and romantically. By the time they started The Tourists in the late seventies, their first musical collaboration, Lennox was wasp-waisted, leggy, and platinum blond, with nary a sensible shoe in sight.
