Paul & Joe Takes it to the Streets
The fashion and beauty teams at the definitively French Paul & Joe may be more familiar with neighborhoods like the Marais, Montparnasse, and Montmartre, but creative inspiration doesn’t have to come from Paris’ streets alone—especially when Manhattan is ripe with it. The brand’s new Lipstick C collection is an ode to three New York neighborhoods, in bullet form: Uptown Girl is a distinctly feminine pink; SoHo, our personal favorite, a punchy coral; and Lower East Side, a mellow café au lait. All three pack a super-emollient formula that’s doused with moisturizing jojoba, apricot seed and olive oils, white lily extract, and orange flower water, which make the pigment apply more like a soothing balm than a lipstick. And as to be expected from Paul & Joe—the label that brought you cat head-shaped lipstick tubes last year—the packaging is adorable. The pretty prints are plucked directly from the Fall 2011 runway collection.
