The Nail Pen Is Mightier Than The Brush
Since launching its in-house beauty range two years ago, Topshop has made it a priority to be at the forefront of the nail polish revolution. Its core collection of lacquer shades includes everything from the classic red Dead Ringer and the pale pink Prim and Proper to a new line of crackle topcoats and a myriad of metallic varnishes. Next up for the British retailer? Nail art pens. While we have outgrown our one-time addiction to etching flowers, stripes, animal prints, and the like onto our fingers, we are enamored with French manicures of late after the throwback white-on-shell combination popped up on a few Fall runways in addition to more avante-garde iterations like the black-on-cream design that premiered backstage at Thakoon. Available in five shades, including Nightrider, a pure black; Frozen, a chalky white; Barbarella, a fuchsia; Visionary, a silver; and Hustle, a light blue, these felt-tip markers make scrawling that customary 1/8″ line across the top of your nails that much easier. The formula is water-soluble, too, so best to keep a damp Q-tip at your disposal while painting to perfect your lines before securing them with a clear topcoat. The range debuted earlier this month on Topshop.com, which is currently out of stock of everything except the periwinkle Hustle—a testament to the fact that we’re not the only ones digging the pens’ broad appeal. But after a little recon mission, we learned that the whole lot is still available at the store’s Soho flagship.
