Shaving With Schuman
If you’re on the hunt for a man with a certain je ne sais quoi, skip scanning through Tinder and look no further than Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist—he knows how to find a true diamond in the rough. In honor of The Art of Shaving’s newest launch, The Chelsea Collection (a set comprising a stand, black-handled razor, and shave brush complete with nickel-plated accents), the brand teamed up with the famed photographer to capture guys on the streets of this renowned New York City neighborhood. “Being a well-groomed gentleman isn’t just about having a great haircut or being clean-shaven, it is more than that—I was looking for men who had a confidence about their appearance, a grace even,” said Schuman. “I wasn’t reporting what the latest trends are in facial hair, but capturing an inner style which happens to have materialized into a great beard or moustache.” To celebrate the launch, his portraits are being showcased at the Danziger Gallery tonight in, where else, Chelsea. I look forward to seeing more eye candy as the company expands its Heritage Collection—a line of washroom tools that pay homage to the Big Apple. And with “Movember” (a moustache-growing event that raises funds for mens’ health programs) on the horizon, I expect to see at least one impressive handlebar in his next collection of snaps. Scott, I suggest you to take the L straight to Williamsburg.
