Skate—And Sniff—For Life
Carhartt has always been something of a cool-kid staple. If memory serves, every guy I ever had a crush on in high school wore pants, hooded sweatshirts, hats—you name it—from the workwear-line-turned-nineties-skater-mainstay. The brand has made something of a comeback over the past few years, too, thanks to the opening of the first U.S. outpost of the Swiss-based Carhartt Work In Progress, the Detroit company’s upscale upstart, as well as the collaborations it has inspired, namely with A.P.C., and I still find myself hard-pressed not to turn my head when I spy that swirled C logo (old habits die hard). February marks another collaboration for Carhartt WIP, this time in the beauty realm. Teaming up with MiN New York, creators and curators of fine fragrances from around the world, the two brands have debuted the Carhartt WIP x MiN candle, a smoked-timber-scented luminary with hints of bergamot, pine, armoise, and absinthe, with a woody base. It has a distinctly nostalgic aroma that smells of being outside—with a guy in a really great hoodie.
Available at Carhartt WIP, 119 Crosby St, NYC, (212) 219-2934.
