Milan Feels The Lacquer Love
The bold, colorful Spring nail story that started in New York at shows like Ruffian, Cushnie et Ochs, Prabal Gurung, and Jason Wu, and continued in London at House of Holland, Giles, and Topshop Unique—all courtesy of manicurist Sophy Robson—has slowed down a bit since the fashion set relocated to Milan. (Those magnificent cherry red nails at Gucci last week and the navy blue tips at Armani this morning are the exception.) But thanks to a colorful, rousing presentation at Missoni yesterday, the lacquer love has been rekindled in the form of three vivid varnishes that peeked out of Angela Missoni’s ankle-wrap platform sandals. The Missoni girl wore her fingers bare this season, but on-site manicurists painted toes in Essie’s Bermuda Shorts—an electric violet—along with the sadly discontinued Bright Tights, a phenomenal neon orange that can still be found, albeit in a slightly more mellow tangerine incarnation, as Essie’s Capri. There was also a stellar green color, for which we’d recommend Essie’s Pretty Edgy, a standout from its Summer 2010 collection that, turns out, will be equally wearable when the warm weather returns in 2011.
