Makeup Bag Check: Drew Barrymore
The Face Painter: Celebrity makeup artist Debra Ferullo for CoverGirl.
The Face: “It all started obviously with her dress,” Ferullo said of look 32 from Raf Simons’ spring Jil Sander collection that Barrymore boldly broke out for the event. “The orange color reminded us of the French Riviera so I wanted to create a fresh, dewy look.” That meant sculpting what Ferullo described as a “luxurious polished finish” with CoverGirl’s new, NatureLuxe Silk Foundation, which she warmed up by patting the brand’s Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Lush Berry onto the apples of Barrymore’s cheeks for a natural sun-kissed glow.
The Eyes: Looking for a bit of subtle depth, Derullo coated Drew’s lids with a wash of golds and plums, blending CoverGirl’s Smoky ShadowBlast in Bronze Fire and Purple Plume all the way up to her brow bone and dragging the mixture beneath the lower lash line as well. A smudged line of its LiquiLineBlast in Brown Blaze on the upper lash line made for a sultry, subdued effect. As a finishing touch, Derullo applied two coats of CoverGirl’s LashBlast Volume Mascara for a hint of drama.
The Lip: Barrymore’s pouty, pink pucker, came courtesy of CoverGirl’s NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Anemone, a sheer watermelon shade, that Derullo chose to “complete the fresh look.”
The Result: A face befitting a starlet with a beauty contract—and an appreciation for high fashion.
