The 411: Tata Harper
When you picture life on the farm, a gorgeous, über-stylish blonde tilling the land isn’t necessarily what comes to mind. But Tata Harper defies most stereotypes. She’s beauty and brains, and happens to love an Aspen getaway just as much as tending to daily agriculture duties on her 1,200-acre Vermont sprawl. Harper, whose name has become nearly synonymous with organic beauty since she launched her range of all-natural skincare products last summer, came to the increasingly popular world of eco-chic complexion correctors in an all-too-familiar way: “I couldn’t find a 100 percent natural line that was driven by scientific results, that really worked and that didn’t force me to compromise on anything,” she says. But her point of difference in the increasingly saturated market is a pristinely packaged line that actually delivers, earning her a loyal following among green-leaning celebrities and regular folk alike. Harper harvests 20 percent of the ingredients used in standouts like her Hydrating Floral Essence and Reparative Moisturizer from her own floral and herb beds and imports the rest from sustainable, organic farms in places like the Amazon, the Czech Republic, and New Zealand. Here, the world traveler shares some of her own destinations for proper primping.—Elizabeth Cohen
The Skin Smoother: Personal Best
“My Rejuvenating Serum has 29 active ingredients all dedicated to making your skin beautiful and healthy. I can’t live without it.”
The Strand Saver: Rahua Finishing Mask
“I love this organic haircare range. I’m particularly obsessed with its hair treatment mask. It has turned my hair glossy, soft, and so manageable there’s no need to blow-dry. I buy a few of them at a time as I fear I may run out!”
The Luxe Facial: The Lapis Spa at Le Fontainebleau Miami Beach
“I typically do my own facials weekly, but when I am in the mood for some pampering, I go for the Oxygen Restore Facial from the Lapis Spa at Le Fontainebleau in Miami. It combines microcurrent technology with my own line. Afterwards, my skin looks plumper and feels softer.”
$140 for 50 minutes, 4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, Fla., (800) 548-8886, www.fontainebleau.com.
The Pampering Getaway: Canyon Ranch
“There is no place like Canyon Ranch. There is an amazing variety of activities. I especially love the nature walks on the property, which is so beautifully set in the Berkshire Mountains. I also really enjoy the pool floating activities for relaxation. And all of their treatments are an experience, but I especially love the Ultra Moisturizing Treatment. It’s heavenly!”
165 Kemble St., Lenox, Mass., (413) 637-4100, www.canyonranch.com.
The Signature Scents: Tata Harper Aromatherapy Treatments
“My aromatic treatments are my choice of perfume lately. They are mood prescriptions and were not supposed to be perfumes, but they smell so good and are so easy to carry that I end up using them throughout the day!”
$80 each, www.tataharperskincare.com.
The En Plein Air Workout: Hiking
“I believe in healthy body, healthy mind, so I try to work out and meditate often. I spend half of my week at my farm in Vermont and prefer outdoor activities like horseback riding and hiking when I’m there. I get to work out but also enjoy the great views and landscapes around me. What could be better?”

The Ski Destination: Aspen
“I really enjoy spending time in Aspen. It’s more like a quaint town than a huge resort yet it offers everything you need—great food, amazing views, and a whole range of outdoor activities. I love staying at the Little Nell because it’s small and cozy and conveniently located right in the center of town so you can ski in and out.”
The Little Nell, 675 E. Durant Ave., Aspen, (888) 843-6355,
The Healthy Snack: Organic Avenue Chai Love Smoothie
“I have never actually done a cleanse as I can’t seem to find the courage. However, I do drink fresh juices everyday and when I am in NYC I rely on Organic Avenue. Their new Chai Milk Smoothie is so delicious that I find myself always craving one.”
The Retail Therapy: Couturelab.com
“Besides Etsy.com, which I find completely addictive, I love Couturelab.com. They sell amazing pieces made by artisans and craftsmen from all around the globe.”
