The Red-Carpet-Ready High Pony: A How-To
As previously noted, ponytails are big for fall—and are considered more than acceptable red-carpet fare because of it. Emma Stone put her own spin on the style last night at the Friends With Benefits premiere in New York, adding a little retro height at the crown to complement a heavy, red-again fringe and a perfectly placed black cat-eye. “I decided on a pony with a seventies Bardot feel,” Stone’s stylist, Mara Roszak, said, taking her cues from the Easy A star’s “youthful, upbeat” Giambattista Valli ensemble. Prepping damp hair with Bumble and Bumble’s Surf Spray, Roszak rough-dried Stone’s strands for a bit of haphazard texture. Then, back-combing to add volume, she pulled the lengths into a pony, wrapping a piece of hair around the elastic and allowing a few pieces to fall out around Stone’s face for some casual framing. A halo of Rene Furterer Hair Spray kept everything in place. Thoughts on the fun-meets-formal look?
