Beauty Nostalgia: Reminiscing With…Celerie Kemble
Beauty Nostalgia is a new, weekly column on Beauty Counter in which we ask influencers, tastemakers, and some of our favorite industry experts to wax poetic on the sticks, salves, and sprays that helped shape who they are today.
The Pro: Celerie Kemble, interior designer
The Product:“Growing up in Palm Beach, I experimented with a whole pharmacy shelf’s worth of Sun-In to make my hair blonder. That and at-home hair dyes were my obsession—I tried every brand that was popular in the eighties from Revlon to Clairol. In my early and mid-teens I was every shade of hair color at least once—the best being a bottom-of-the-pond blackish emerald green. At the time I thought it made my eyes ‘pop’ and maybe even looked a little La Femme Nikita but I probably just looked like a preppy witch in my dad’s old cable-knit crewneck sweaters and cuffed jeans!”
