The 411: Claire Distenfeld
If you haven’t been to Claire Distenfeld’s New York-based retail paradise Fivestory yet, then it’s time to head uptown. After noticing a lack of niche boutiques in Manhattan, the young entrepreneur partnered with her father, Fred (a former importer and manufacturer of luxury goods), and opened the fashion/accessories/housewares wonderland. While the beautifully curated two-floor boutique only opened its doors last year, the handpicked selections and decadent interior—there’s a water fountain nestled among fresh flowers and towering shelves of heels—have already garnered plenty of local and international acclaim. Claire’s travels and love for fashion influence the edit, which includes select pieces from Balmain, Josh Goot, and Monica Sordo—and lucky for us, her excellent taste extends to beauty and wellness, too. Here, Style.com catches up with the tastemaker to discover her go-to primping stops in the city that never sleeps, and beyond.— Tara Lamont-Djite
The Mani Must: i-Plaza
“I love this spot on Greenwich and Canal Street for mani-pedis. They give you pedicures in these beautiful copper basins that feel so romantic and decadent. It’s also very open and lofty, so you don’t feel like the person next to you is judging your nail situation—i.e., chipped varnish and rough cuticles.”
387 Greenwich Street, New York, NY, 10013, (212) 966-7796.
The Lipstick Love: Lady Danger
“I’m really low maintenance. I brush my teeth, wash my face, and moisturize, and that’s about it. In the cab to work, I usually put on some blush or bronzer, and if I’m heading out after work and need a pick-me-up, I’ll put on some red lipstick. Lady Danger by MAC is my go-to shade.”

The Hair Hero: Chris Lospalluto at Sally Hershberger
“Haircuts are my new favorite indulgence, or they have been since I met Chris Lospalluto at Sally Hershberger. He’s a magician with hair. I had the same length and cut my whole life, and he convinced me to go short. I’ve never looked back.”For more information, visit www.sallyhershberger.com.
The Evening Standard: Kiehl’s Midnight Oil
“This is a lifesaver for dry skin in winter. The potent concoction contains a combo of evening primrose and lavender essential oils to soothe, brighten, and hydrate skin.”
Available at www.kiehls.com.
The Liquid Lunch: Juice Press
“I’m obsessed with Juice Press! I mix the Master Cleanse and Mother Earth juices together, then add extra cayenne pepper and honey.”

The Winter Workout: Punch Fitness
“Punch Fitness on Madison, between 78th and 79th, is amazing. They condition you like a fighter, and the adrenaline rush is like no other. Basically, you spend an hour one-on-one with one of their trainers, all of whom are trained in different forms of [martial arts]. It helps to keep things interesting.”

The Spa Getaway: Amangiri
“This place is on the border of Utah and heaven.”
