The Anti-Statement Lip at Tiffany’s Blue Book Ball
At last night’s lavish party to celebrate the launch of Tiffany’s Jazz Age-inspired Blue Book jewelry collection, the brand’s signature powder blue was the backdrop for a bevy of beauties dressed to the nines (many in shades of blue), copiously bejeweled (in Tiffany, of course), and, for the most part, with lips painted in an array of barely there hues. Perhaps it was so nothing would detract from the Deco-style bling, but there was nary a statement lip in sight. Among the arbiters of this whisper lip: Michelle Williams, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Biel, Kate Hudson, Carey Mulligan, Sarah Jessica Parker, and models Doutzen Kroes, Hilary Rhoda, and Carolyn Murphy. From a muted dusty rose to the palest slip of peach to the fleshiest nude, it feels like an elegant, and understated, evening alternative to the brightly pigmented pout, don’t you think?
