A Beauty Bazaar Grows…in Liverpool?
U.K. beauty talk might be squarely focused on London right now, as Olympic athletes’ prospective on-the-field hair and makeup looks are already making headlines—when people aren’t talking about Covent Garden’s new Chanel Beauty pop-up shop, that is—but once the members of the international sports community have decamped back to their respective countries of origin, glances may shift due North of the British capital. This Fall, Harvey Nichols will be opening its first-ever “Beauty Bazaar” concept store at the behemoth Liverpool ONE shopping center, an impressive state-of-the-art facility for all things primping and the first of its kind worldwide. Loosely modeled off Harrod’s tremendously successful Urban Retreat, which has boomed so much under the aegis of manager Tracey Woodward that it is now the biggest salon in Western Europe, Harvey Nicks is upping the ante with 22,000 square feet and three floors of pure preening and priming pleasure. The ground level of the spectacular beauty playground features a multitude of makeup, skincare and fragrance offerings from global giants like Chanel, YSL and Estée Lauder as well as cultier lines, like Escentric Molecules, NARS, Tom Ford and Laura Mercier; one flight up is an open area outfitted with Mark Woolley’s Electric Hair Lounge, a Blink Brow Bar and a lash and nail bar (there’s also a champagne and cocktail lounge for those in need of refreshment); while the top floor is home to more private treatment rooms for unisex waxing, spray tanning and the Beyond Medispa, which offers Botox and teeth whitening on site, amongst other things.
