That Certain Je Ne Sais Qua
Nobu devotees the world over likely associate the high-end sushi purveyor with its oft-duplicated, but never replicated signature dishes, like yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño and black cod with miso. Starting this weekend, they can add bamboo scrubs and diamond polishes to their list of favorites. The restaurant empire, helmed by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, has expanded its brand to include a high-end boutique hotel-within-a-hotel that will open its doors inside Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace tomorrow, onsite Qua Baths & Spa included. In honor of the opening, the relaxation destination is unveiling six new treatments, co-designed with Spanish beauty line Natura Bissé.
The standout ninety-minute Nagomi Ritual begins with a dried lily and jasmine flower foot bath in a pretty copper basin, and is followed by a drizzle of one of four aromatic nectars (Ayurvedic essential oil blends dubbed Nutriv, Relax, Stimul and Detox) along the spine to stimulate the neuro-lymphatic system before a Thai, Balinese and Shiatsu-blend massage commences. The service ends with a Carboxitherapy facial that entails a tingling, fizzy carbon-dioxide infusion that stimulates cell regeneration. Other offerings include the Diamond Magnetic Body Ritual to balance chakras, counteract electromagnetic pollution, and polish skin with diamond dust exfoliation; the Diamond Radiance Ritual, which lifts and hydrates using Carboxitherapy; and an O2 Awakening Ritual that introduces oxygen molecules into the epidermal layer to plump, detoxify, and re-energize skin. A stop in the Roman baths, which are equipped with eucalyptus steam, sauna, and arctic snow rooms, is a must before venturing back out into the lurid depths of Sin City.
