Back in Caesar's day, women favored curls and poufs over straighter styles. Face-framing tendrils and towering, coiled masses of hair that cascaded down the back were two looks enjoyed by the emperor's niece, Atia of the Julii—or at least by the hair team on the HBO series Rome.
