Locks of Love
In Casanova's days, women's hairstyles were dependent on elaborate frontages (towering masses of adorned locks), but eighteenth-century men embraced the ponytail, or "queue," wearing the style short and low or in powdered wigs that were typically secured with a black ribbon.
