Fall 2007's best collection...what brought COUTURE to Ready to Wear.
Black, Fur, Metallic, Short Hems, Lace, Stam, Pivovarova, Roslyakova, Ward, Stam..
For my first lookbook I decided to compile photos that appealed to me right off the bat. Whether it be the color combination, the texture, or the silhouette, these looks are striking and beautiful and are absolutely necessary!
A pick of some great Fall 08 styles with a sophisticated yet edgy look.
The single biggest influence in Fall 08 collections, is the 1940's. Plush furs, rich satins, structured and draped dresses and coats, and floaty skirts all hint at 40's glamour.
Only Giorgio Armani and Gianfranco Ferré really did the home-run for furs, which Milan is a master in. You'll find out I'm still undecided on Versace's fate- to be ostentatious or laid-back? Or is the new money growing up?
Louche luxe is the spirit of grunge meeting 1940's textiles for an undeniably modern, understated look. Waist emphasis is minimal, with a focus on layering and textural interest in silhouettes that are both slouchy and sleek.
When I see these looks I think, Oh to be British. They make me think of the WWI/WWII eras with a mixture of the medieval thrown in.
