Where the Wild Things Were
In what has turned into an annual pilgrimage out West, Mulberry decamped to the Parker Palm Springs to celebrate Coachella's opening weekend with an arsenal of young fans. The weekend kicked off with a Friday night fire pit party, where Kate Bosworth, Cara Delevingne, and Sky Ferreira caught a live set by Kasabian. "It's in our culture to really love music," creative director Emma Hill explained of Mulberry's now yearly presence at the festival. "We try really hard to have parties that don't feel like industry parties—and we're all just really into music." (Case in point: the just-released Del Rey bag, named for Lana.)
So, why throw one party when two would do? On Saturday, the fun continued, and a requisite band of pretty young things—among them Arizona Muse, Dree Hemingway, and Harley Viera-Newton—caught newcomer Wild Belle perform poolside at a barbecue that was equal parts festival respite and recharge. On a weekend break from filming Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring in Los Angeles, Emma Watson was excited to be celebrating her first Coachella—and her 22nd birthday—with Mulberry. "I've carried a Mulberry bag for a long time and they've always been quite supportive. And they're fun! I love what they've been doing recently, and I love these monsters," the actress noted of the playful decorations celebrating the Fall '12 Where the Wild Things Are collection. Another first-timer, Lily Collins, was as excited for Bon Iver, David Guetta, and headliner Radiohead as she was for a little desert getaway. "I have been on the road, so it's been so nice to have some downtime by the pool and just chill."
