Golden Year: A Handful of the Movers & Shakers Who Made 2013
For my last Style Map post of 2013, I was planning on doing a recap of Blohk Party (above), which was a great end to a roller coaster of a year. But, after looking through images from the past year, it occurred to me that the entire 2013 was just one big Blohk Party for me, and what made the difference were the people I’ve had the opportunity to meet and work with.
Blohk Party was epic. The ultimate reward was seeing how much the crowd enjoyed the event. I’m so proud of what the team accomplished.
A key highlight of Blohk Party was meeting Pusha T, who is not only an amazing performer, but also a humble person with great style. I’m very much looking forward to checking out his new shop Creme (in Virginia), which stocks brands such as Comme des Garçons, Marcelo Burlon‘s County of Milan, and BBC.
Our “sister” and fashion influencer, Hilary Tsui, continues to inspire us with her unique sense of style and her incredible stamina – she seems to be running a marathon every single week!
A perfect example of a great creative partnership is the dynamic duo of Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, creative directors of Kenzo and founders of Opening Ceremony. Their ambition and curiosity is admirable. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
Last but not least, having the chance to work with the creative powerhouse that is Chitose Abe, designer of Sacai, made all the difference. Her collections are truly incredible, but what made me truly take notice are her business instincts and her ability to bring together a unique melting pot of a team from all over the world. I’m proud to be part of this team.
I can’t wait to experience what lies ahead in 2014, but one thing is for sure, I’ve learned to just enjoy the ride.
