The Gold Rush: Looking Cool and Staying Warm (With Help From Gucci)
Winter is an interesting time in California. One day it can be cold, (for us, that means a cool 55 degrees), and the next it’s back to 80. We really have to work hard to find weather-appropriate pieces that are also right for the season. This is why the winter dress code for most of us in L.A. consists of jeans, ankle booties, and a tee. But for me, one look for a whole season isn’t really going to work! A great warm-winter trick: I find myself frequently pairing skirts with long-sleeve turtlenecks and sweaters. Which, if you’re going to be inside, is also great for a night out no matter where you live.
I’m wearing a chic, all-black look, embellished by the accessories: a studded skirt and bag, and beautiful gold and diamond fine jewelry pieces from Gucci. I love mixing metals—the silver watch and studs on the skirt, mixed with the gold horse-bit necklace, rings, and studs on the bag. Since I’m wearing all black, mixing different metals and stones absolutely works. The look is about the accessories, the embellishments, and all that glitters. I definitely want to let those pieces stand out!
