Shirt Smarts: Anna K’s Pithy Tees Come to Colette
I once wrote about the tremendous success of the Ukrainian label Anna K for Style Map. As I noted, it will be the first brand from Kiev to be sold at Colette, the famous and important Paris concept store. Now my team and I are helping the designer throw a party at Colette on June 13 at 5 p.m., where Anna will present the second chapter of her impressively successful Fashion Circus line. New T-shirts and sweatshirts bear more common phrases from the fashion industry, such as “Luxury is a discipline” (as said by my favorite designer, Karl Lagerfeld); “All access”; “Every designer should have a cheap line” (a nod to artist John Baldessari); “It’s fashion, baby”; and “Don’t dress for press,” among others.
Moreover, there will be a preview of a limited-edition T-shirt reading “I don’t give interviews” (Colette cofounder and owner Sarah Andelman‘s favorite), made exclusively for the store in its trademark blue color.
Especially for this important evening we have produced fortune cookies…with one little difference: Instead of “fortune” they will be called “fashion cookies,” as inside everyone will find predictions of their fashion destinies. Yes, you can probably guess the phrases they will have inside—from “Uncross your legs” to “I am not a blogger,” as seen on T-shirts. We will ask guests to share their ideas for the next Fashion Circus collection—and if my readers want to join in but won’t be in Paris next Friday, please send your phrases to firstname.lastname@example.org! The best writers will definitely be rewarded with custom T-shirts!
