Where Gourmet Tapas Meet Debauchery in Casco Viejo
Casco Viejo basically translates to “old helmet.” I guess when it was a fort city that made sense, but now it’s not a helmet and it’s definitely not old in feeling. One of the newest and most amazing attractions in this old quarter of Panama is Atelier, a cozy bar located above the gorgeous Teatro Amador dance extravaganza club. Atelier means “workshop” in French, and this place feels like one. It has a tiny kitchen where amazing tapas created by famed chef Andrés Madrigal are served. Come here for a very open, tropical-meets-industrial feeling. It’s great for Thursday nights. The people are from all over the world, so if you are not a local this is a perfect spot—you’ll feel right at home, wherever you’re from.
Atlelier is located on the same street as the Ace’s American Trade Hotel, you just need to keep on walking. Once you pass Teatro Amador you will see a little door with a bouncer; just tell him Miky from Style.com sent you and you’ll be fine. Take the elevator up and get ready. This place usually leads to bad behavior. Make sure to meet Valle—she plays host and will rock your world.
This is a must for all you urban explorers visiting my tropical wonderland.
That’s all for now!
