CPHFW Report: What the Top Nordic Talents Turned Out for Spring
It’s curtain time for Copenhagen fashion week, day two. It included some of the best Scandinavian designers, cementing Copenhagen’s position as the prime fashion week in the Nordic region.
It was the second show for up-and-coming designer Mark Kenly Domino Tan and he did not fail to impress. He has a knack for choosing exquisite materials, and everything seemed to ooze modern luxury with a twist of Danish coolness.
Ganni found the most original venue of the day, an old tennis court in the center of Copenhagen. One of day’s best model casts sported chic looks in refreshing colors, while guests enjoyed slush ice and popcorn served by cute ball boys. Game, set, and match!
Danish duo Baum und Pferdgarten seem to only grow stronger each season along with their collections. Their love of beautiful prints was apparent in the clothes, which showcased empowering silhouettes for independent women of all ages.
The workshop of the Royal Danish Academy of Art’s School of Sculpture was the venue chosen by Mads Nørgaard for his presentation, which seemed fitting for the sculptural shapes of the collection. The right amount of carefree attitude, both in terms of models and clothes, was a breath of fresh air amid an intense day of shows.
Set in what easily could have been urban forestation but was actually the garden of a bank headquarters, Designers Remix had a rural feel, with a cast of international models wearing smock dresses and scarves wrapped around their heads—and everyone was offered a bag of peas or an apple at the entrance.
Bruuns Bazaar celebrated its 20th anniversary this season with an intimate showing in its courtyard, and the label presented one of its strongest collections, marked by elegance, minimalism, and fine details.
Guests were escorted by boat to the By Malene Birger show, which took place on a small island. The collection, designed by new creative director Christina Exsteen, included fringed dresses, sharp, tailored suits, and a touch of sequins for modern career women around the world.
