Happy Feet: Pharrell’s Paris Opening & Hand-Painted Kicks
Could you ever dream of a greater exhibition featuring the hottest artists? Of a cooler gallery/gallerist than Perrotin? Of a greater space than the new Salle de Bal? Of having it curated by Pharrell Williams, and ending it all with an intimate concert by Pharrell himself??
I cannot but agree with Virgil Abloh‘s recent Style Map post: We all have to move to Paris and see GIRL. I don’t think I have ever come across a more special collaboration/exhibition! Imagine the vibe: a mix of Murakami, KAWS, Robb Pruitt, and Mr. Arsham, to name a few…all under one roof! Just imagine the outcome.
Pharrell is by far the coolest, humblest, happiest singer-songwriter-producer. Not only is he happy, happy, happy, but he is cool, cool, cool, with a great sense of style!
He was wearing an amazing mix of necklaces, bracelets, and rings; a hand-painted daisy belt; slouchy denim; a little Chanel scarf sticking out of his back pocket; and his iconic hat. And that wasn’t all! He had the Adidas Stan Smiths painted by none other than himself and limited to only ten pairs. For men only! Each pair is unique, hand-painted by Pharrell, and sold exclusively at Colette. It’s that rare day when we girls wish not to be Cinderella, but to have big, huge feet and wear men’s shoes.
Sarah Andelman of Colette got very lucky. She was wearing a stunning pair tagged with daisies. I’m dying to get some, and am more than willing to sleep at the doorstep of Colette tonight.
Meanwhile, I sure got lucky to be at that happy exhibition.
GIRL by Pharrell Williams runs through June 25. Don’t miss out!
