Prada

Senior Beauty Editor Celia Ellenberg's take:
Working off Miuccia Prada's sweet, 1950's directive for Spring, hairstylist Guido Palau served up a decidedly retro coiff that boasted a few twists and turns to keep it from looking dated. "There's a refinement to the quirkiness," Palau insisted, which ensured that models remained, above all, Prada women. Parting hair to the side and prepping strands with Redken Satinwear 02 Ultimate Blow-Dry Lotion and its Hot Sets 22 Thermal Setting Mist, Palau wrapped sections around a 1" curling iron and spritzed them with its Fashion Work 12 Versatile Working Spray for hold.

"It's a bit like a girl curling her hair and putting in a bobby pin before going out at night," he explained of the "homemade, not finished" quality. "It should almost look like she's put in too much product," he continued, imparting a bit of "David Lynch darkness" that stemmed from a damp, almost wet texture—Palau's signature for the season.

Makeup artist Pat McGrath was busy at work on bleaching brows, which could be her signature for the season if she keeps it up through Paris. After blocking out arches at Gucci this week, McGrath followed suit here, although she chose to fill them back in with a series of pencils and powders, rather than leave the brow ridge bare. As for the rest of the face, the makeup artist engaged in an interesting game of put-on, wipe-off, applying a full coverage foundation and then blotting it away with her fingers before adding a beige-y blush to cheeks and a creamy pink lipstick to mouths, a color she also subsequently muted with a top coat of concealer. Lining the inner rims of eyes with a black pencil, McGrath completed the look with a swipe of grease across lids for a hint of shine and a lived-in feel.
