Accessories are a designer's best ambassadors, and the new crop certainly have a lot to say for themselves. To address topics like the return of glamour, the drama of all-black dressing and the revival of nightlife, fashion's front-runners have scaled up their sizes, pulled out the high-impact materials (shiny alligator, gold lamé) and raised the height limit even further on those already-skyscraping stilettos. Stakes, as they say, are high.—Janet Ozzard
