Peter Som

NEW YORK, May 28, 2008
By Laird Borrelli-Persson
Inspired by a book about the jewels of the rajas, Peter Som took a "Passage to India" for Resort. The collection was unsurprisingly rich in romance but retained what Som likes to call his "sense of quirkiness." Ladylike, patchworked coats—mixing tweed and an abstracted paisley print—could be worn as easily with a brightly colored chiffon wrap dress as with lean trousers that slouched at the ankle. For evening, there was a one-shouldered dress of layers of fil coupé chiffon that floated dreamily about the body—now, that's the ticket.
