Richard Chai

NEW YORK, June 9, 2008
By Laird Borrelli-Persson
The Resort collection that Richard Chai showed in his new Grand Street headquarters was as light and airy as the freshly renovated space. The designer and his business are in expansion mode, and his clothes reflect a newfound confidence and broader range. Tailoring anchored the collection, as always, but Chai added feminine touches to his repertoire with watercolor florals, ruffles, chiffon overlays, and transparent fil coupé. These granted fluidity and even fun to his accomplished architectural vision.
