Rachel Roy

NEW YORK, June 3, 2008
By Meenal Mistry
Though Rachel Roy is home for the moment on a brief maternity leave, she went globe-trotting via sketchpad with a Resort collection that ventured from the south of France to Africa. On her Provençal safari, dresses with charming hand-painted flowers and floral brocades covered Arles, while khaki-colored pieces and cocktail frocks in an animal-print flocked chiffon took in the Serengeti. A bouclé suit and navy crocheted dress actually evoked Deauville, to the north, but once you've got your metaphoric passport out, why not keep going?
