Thakoon

Thakoon Panichgul is enjoying his moment in the sun—not only has he been a beneficiary of the MObama Effect, but his latest venture, a sister line called Thakoon Addition (priced at 20 percent less than his main range), is being well received. Now he's designed a fittingly upbeat Resort collection that he himself characterized as "sun-bleached."

"I wanted everything to have a turban-y feel," said the designer, which explains why dressed-up looks, jackets, and pants were all texturally twisted, knotted, and draped. There was a touch of Fortuny in some of the pleating, like that on a lemon yellow dress. Worn with a coordinating sheer cardie, this number was literally a ray of light.
