Yigal Azrouël

NEW YORK, June 2, 2010
By Romney Leader
How does Yigal Azrouël update his signature slouchy-cool silhouettes and washed fabrics in the context of fashion's current minimalism obsession? "I took classic pieces and used different textures to make them more interesting," he said of his Resort collection. A pair of expertly tailored shorts trimmed with a knit waistband, for example, was paired with a slouchy silk pocket tee. Clean-lined blazers featured jersey insets for a more comfortable fit. And for evening, the designer showed a shimmery nude floor-length number he described as "a long-sleeve T-shirt turned into a gown." All told, a successful foray into basics with a twist.
