Opening Ceremony

Opening Ceremony, more than most brands, understands the importance of pre-seasons for retail. After all, founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim were retailers first. The label's devoted clientele, many of whom stop by the New York store several times a month, create a strong demand for new merch turnover, and Leon and Lim are delivering just that with their first-ever pre-fall collection, which pays tribute to their nearly ten years in business.

Each year, as acolytes know, OC dedicates its sales floors to a designated country, and this time around, it's Argentina. In keeping with that theme, crocheted skirts come with braided details meant to evoke the ceremonial plaiting of horsehair, while blanket-motif sweaters also evoke the region. A major selling point for the OC brand is its attainable price point, so the team has put out a new jersey basics capsule line (following the T by Alexander Wang model) that is all sub-$200. Fans will also go for the fun Lurex knits, detachable dyed fox-fur collars, and a reversible silk taffeta bell-shaped coat. Let's put this one in the win column for Opening Ceremony.
