Rachel Comey is taking her staff on a week-long trip to the beach in Long Island, and she's packed and ready for the occasion with air mattresses and boxes of wine. Much like the designer herself, Comey's easygoing customer isn't the kind of girl who vacations in St. Bart's; impromptu dinner parties are more her speed. Considering its delivery period (the clothes ship in November), her Resort collection has a festive, "holiday" feel. A strapless, blush pink jumpsuit with a long overlay would make an ideal New Year's Eve getup for the casual hostess. Ditto goes for the pajamalike, silk Smoking suit tied off with a tassel belt. Add a pair of Comey's comfortable, quilted "cloots" (half clog/half bootie), and entertaining couldn't be easier. Other shindig-ready looks included a "scroll" lace dress with a built-in corset and a cute pleated frock in polka-dot mesh that was a bit more conservative—"in case you have to stop by your boyfriend's parents' house."
