Young designers looking to build their businesses could learn a thing or two from Rebecca Minkoff. "I'm focused on making this a lifestyle brand," said a pregnant Minkoff at her first Resort presentation. "So I just have to keep rolling stuff out." The collection was full of go-to summery pieces over which the loyal Minkoff customer can toss a leather jacket when temperatures drop; there was a cool bomber in laser-cut suede that should fit the bill. A sienna orange striped wrap dress that looked like a modern sari cinched with a utilitarian leather belt was among the highlights, but the designer's personal faves were the allover lace looks, specifically an aqua minidress paired with a matching silk shawl-lapel blazer. The challenge for Minkoff was "how to make the lace less girly." Enter her bread-winning handbags, which were toughened up this time around with gold spikes and studs.
