St. John

Something clicked for St. John when Kate Winslet became the new face of the label. "She's smart, she's beautiful and modern," said creative director George Sharp. "And most of all, women like her because she's real." The thing is, one could actually picture the actress wearing these designs (that is, when she's not sporting, say, the racy Stella McCartney number that got her quite a bit of press back in March). Winslet reportedly scooped up a pile of pieces at her shoot for the Fall campaign, and a few looks from Resort ought to fit in with her growing collection. A jersey halter dress had a flattering drape with slight seventies appeal, while cool, poppy-colored trousers were inspired by the Jil Sander costumes for Tilda Swinton in I Am Love. This lineup was mostly St. John staples, a.k.a. knit suiting separates in oatmeal and black, but a few items got an update with understated hardware, including hammered buttons and gunmetal studs. That should keep Kate happily on board.
