T by Alexander Wang

You can be sure that Alexander Wang is putting just as much elbow grease into T as his namesake collection. Earlier this month, a T by Alexander Wang Fall video with Santigold and Spank Rock debuted online alongside a guerrilla marketing push in New York. The designer is smart to give his younger sibling line equal attention. These lower-priced basics, after all, are what drive sales in stores and on Wang's newish e-commerce site. T's Resort lineup picks up on the main collection's sporty vibe and was inspired by eighties surfer gear from labels like Quiksilver and Body Glove (no doubt he spent a solid amount of time in PacSun growing up in San Francisco). The biggest news was the liberal use of neon colors—uncharted territory for a line that was built around black, white, and gray. There was a knit hooded poncho in fluoro "lapis" and "zest" that paired nicely with his best-selling marled jersey skirts. Other additions included silk separates in a menswear tie pattern and a great crepe de chine jumpsuit. At $365, the all-in-one was the line's highest-ticket item.
