Z Spoke by Zac Posen

By Matthew Schneier
The girls that dream of Zac Posen wake up and wear Z Spoke. It's to Posen's credit that while he pushes ever farther into luxury for his namesake collection, he's offering his clients something accessible. Secondary collections often suffer from dilution, but the Posen codes are in full effect here. Knit dresses of the body-con variety ring in under $1,000, and his frilly polka-dot print frocks have a daffy seventies snap. Z Spoke is still in its infancy—the label's only a few seasons old—but like all children, it's growing as it grows up. The line's now chockablock with knits, separates, bags (a driving force for its rising sales), and even a leather-and-sequined baby-doll dress. A baby-doll dress at ZP? "That's a rare moment in our house," Posen said with a laugh. Kids—they live to surprise you.
