The See by Chloé apple has never fallen far from the tree, but the contemporary-priced line is resembling its big sister Chloé now more than ever. The sync-up comes thanks to the input of Chloé's newish creative director Clare Waight Keller, who will officially take up the SBC reins beginning with Resort ’14. Previously, it's been designed by a team.

Compared to last season's sporty offerings, the pre-fall lineup shown in New York this week better captured the soft insouciance that is a foundation of the heritage brand. The silhouette was loose and flowing. Slightly baggy trousers and pleated silk tank dresses came in oh-so-Chloé shades of petal pink and melon, while bohemian tapestry and plant-fossil prints were apparently pulled from the sixties archives. Quilted satin pieces, particularly a pewter-colored bomber-jacket-and-shorts set, hit on a current trend and were the standouts in a collection that hit all the right notes.
