"What's going to actually compel me to buy something?" is the question Tracy Reese chewed over while developing her latest collection. For Reese (and just about every designer), pre-fall is about "paying the bills." There were plenty of commercially winning animal prints in the new lineup. Leopard, which has been turning up all over the place this season, came mixed together with python on neoprene knit pieces like a fit-and-flare party frock, a slimming pencil skirt, and second-skin leggings. Basic items like nipped-in leather jackets and relaxed trousers, which filled out the collection, paled in comparison to those spots and scales. Reese hinted that her upcoming Fall runway show will continue to explore safari patterns in textured, three-dimensional fabrics.
