Gaby Basora likes to say she designs for "women who are not afraid to look like women." This season's muses were Claudia Cardinale and Charlotte Rampling. With her focus on bright colors and splashy prints (primarily executed in easy-to-wear crepe de chine), Resort is always a strong season for the Tucker
brand. But this time around Basora pushed beyond her comfort zone, adding nubby linen biker jackets, sporty tank maxi dresses, and classic bateau striped separates to the mix. They gave the lineup a sense of restraint that felt new for the designer. Patterns—used sparingly, for the most part—were wielded successfully, with memorable moments including breezy shirtdresses (done in a "Mamma Roma" floral, as she called it) and a cutout jumpsuit with a convertible tie-front that felt fun, flirty, and perfect for a summer shindig.
