To achieve that, Acra did plenty of color—a virtual rainbow, from a hot-pink strapless cocktail number to a royal blue ball gown with gold-bullion stitching—and offered her most popular silhouettes, including column dresses lined with a short slip. "Demure sex appeal," she called it. A nude dress with allover beading was meant to appeal to her red-carpet clients who want "simple." The one continuous thread was that there was something very regal about every piece. Acra's personal favorite, a grand ivory gown with a gold bodice that was beaded in a diamond pattern and dotted with stones in two shades of turquoise, was fit for a princess.
