Rebecca Taylor

NEW YORK, February 14, 2010
By Romney Leader
It's well documented that Rebecca Taylor likes the sweeter sartorial details, and for Fall she hit that message home. "I wanted to do something that's a continuation of our basic look, but done in a new way," she said backstage. Dotty animal prints turned up on sporty puffer vests rather than the floaty silk frocks of seasons past, and you had to look twice to spot any florals (they formed the texture on a dusty blue jacquard blazer). Still, much of the collection was business as usual: sheer blouses, faux-fur jackets, and one too many riffs on the ruffled sweater. Brushing away those feelings of déjà vu were the gray stretch-suede over-the-knee boots that went with most of the looks. The long, clean line they created provided a modern counterbalance to all the tried-and-true Taylorisms.
