At first glance, you might not guess that Cerre's stark, luxurious separates are conceived and created in West Hollywood—these clothes certainly aren't for the Coachella-bound festival set. Over the past several years, the label's Melrose Avenue boutique has built up a strong clientele of stylish Angelenos with a proclivity for dark leather and drapey silhouettes. This season, husband-and-wife design team Clayton and Flavie Webster (who met in Paris while modeling for the likes of Comme des Garçons and Issey Miyake) began wholesaling for the first time.

They seized the opportunity to reintroduce some of Cerre's greatest hits, including buttery-soft biker jackets, which they cut three different ways (oversize, classic, and slim), as well as calfskin kimonos and silk blouses with detachable snood-like scarf collars. Still, the Websters weren't short on new ideas. They showed their first tailored suit and debuted a digital print on fluid shirts and maxi skirts. Structured pieces, including felted merino wool coats and capelets, were the standouts. "Ascension, expansion, and dissolution," were the keywords the couple used to describe the collection. With a lower-priced diffusion line reportedly in the works, it seems like ascension and expansion, at least, are in Cerre's cards.
