The latest MM6 collection was inspired by the 1952 Winter Olympic Games, and the Margiela design studio tapped into this idea with heavy outerwear that was ready for the slopes (or frozen city sidewalks), as well as sportswear staples like slim ski pants and satin track shorts, which were shown over coated knit leggings, a styling device used throughout the lineup. Nylon puffer coats, scarves, and a quilted muff featured a trompe l'oeil silver fox fur print, while real shearling was used on a reversible biker jacket that was one of the more covetable items here. A voluminous herringbone topper was additionally piled on to that shearling for an oversize look that hit on signature Margiela proportions. Speaking of signature, one tunic dress incorporated a vintage ceramic pattern pulled from a tiled floor in the Maison, which was a literal interpretation of house codes.
