There was a certain boyish sensibility about the latest Chloé runway show (and many of the Fall collections, for that matter). See by Chloé hit that same garçon note, but in a slightly different, younger octave. Enveloping menswear-inspired topcoats and slouchy suits came in on-trend herringbone, while a utilitarian canvas parka with a detachable rabbit-fur collar was shown with matching pleated shorts that gave off a Boy Scout-ish vibe. The SBC design team, which will officially be directed by Clare Waight Keller beginning with Resort, was careful to balance those masculine elements with signature feminine pieces, like wispy blouses and shirtdresses in a hand-drawn python print. Delicate tunics that layered sheer silk over macramé lace were particular standouts on the double-X-chromosome side of the equation. Boxy leather satchels and cool Mary Jane-esque pumps that a girl could really stomp around in completed the look. Considering this solid starting point, we're excited to see where Waight Keller takes the line next season.
