Even the most glamorous girls have downtime between all those premieres, cocktails, and red-carpet events, so Marchesa's Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig are addressing their customers' everyday wardrobe needs with the lower-priced Voyage
line, which officially launched over the summer. Each collection reflects a different journey, and this season's destination was the high seas. The maritime theme was reflected in a smart wool frock-coat reminiscent of naval uniforms, as well as vibrant underwater patterns found on slim jacquard suits and silk maxi skirts that gave off a bohemian vibe. In general, outerwear was a highlight here (coats are often lost amid all the over-the-top gowns on Marchesa's ready-to-wear runways), with standouts including a turquoise-colored alpaca topper and a navy cape embroidered with tropical parrots.
Any oceanic odyssey worth taking should end with the discovery of buried treasure, and Chapman and Craig delivered on that with quilted bombers and long, flowing dresses featuring a bling-y scarf print. Meanwhile, even the most casual of basics benefited from a wave of Marchesa's magic wand. A crewneck sweatshirt and white stovepipe jeans, for example, got a fanciful update with intricate gold embellishment—further proof that the Marchesa woman never ceases to dazzle.
