Who remembers that just five short years ago it was actually controversial for Topshop's in-house Unique collection to be shown alongside designers at London fashion week? It's a sign of how much things have changed that (a) Topshop is now underpinning the finances of young designers by sharing its show space with them, and (b) the in-house team has stopped trying to act sophisticated and conceptual to fit in with the official set, and gotten on with focusing on being young—something it knows all about.

For Spring, Karen Bonser's team has channeled the feeling for blue-collar-worker extreme jeans—taking dirty-wash denim and layering it over rubber cycle shorts and bras. They also played around with a surf theme and a funny shark print that ended up on sweaters. The football section included a great two-in-one beige suede jacket and some very just-this-minute sequined cropped rugby shirts and polo dresses. With that, team Topshop rose several notches up the fashion-credibility charts—if anyone's still counting, that is. All the fashion world seems to care about now is what 14-year-olds think. And they love Topshop.
