Maison Martin Margiela is very much a Parisian brand, but its younger sister, MM6, is a New York label at heart. Not only did the line just open a store on Bleecker Street last month, but today was the first of its New York fashion week presentations (the label confirmed that it will be part of the official New York calendar for seasons to come). So it's only fitting that the clothes took on the same raw, urban vibe that its home base is known for. There was a series of grayish chambray and white separates with inside-out dart details that were paired with signature MM6 booties like the ones snapped on the streets last season. Some looks had a military feel to them—a khaki trenchcoat and slouchy sweatpants shown with high-top sneakers come to mind. There was also a full printed getup that had a faded camouflage illusion to it. But the most memorable of all was a three-piece sweat suit, with trouserlike pants and a jacket with a blazer silhouette. Just what every city girl needs.
