Sam Shipley got married this summer on the Caribbean island of Anegada. If it has less name recognition than some of its cohort in the British Virgin Islands archipelago, chalk that up to the reef that encircles its western tip and makes getting there an adventure. Once you've made it safely to "the drowned island," as the name has it, you'd better make your time there worth the travel. Which is what Shipley and his own cohort, Jeff Halmos, did: Throw a quick wedding and wring out a collection, to boot. The sun-bleached colors of the Caribbean infused their latest effort with a beachy ease. Their clothes have never been tricky or complicated, but toning down saturation and even, for the most part, print—save for a floral shorts suit, that was printed, then indigo-dyed—gave things even more of a shrug. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. A palm-print short-sleeve shirt had the kind of fifties flavor that's been seen throughout the men's collections this season, and their lightest jeans yet, they reported, scored a palpable hit with buyers.
