Designers Line Up for Spring
January 17, 2008
Whether your look is hedge-fund manager, former inmate, or mariner, there are lots of ways to earn your stripes this spring. At Christian Dior, John Galliano showed off three-piece pinstripe suits, while Rick Owens' avant-garde ensembles recalled the op-art work of English painter Bridget Riley. If sailors inspired Carolina Herrera and Michael Kors, Jean Paul Gaultier's show was full of looks pirated from Captain Sparrow. Treasure in the form of fitted jackets was to be found at Ann Demeulemeester, Proenza Schouler, and Ralph Lauren. Todd Lynn, likewise, aimed to give his tailored toppers "a slight regimental feeling" with an exclusive stripe that was, he said, "edgy and lighthearted and fun."
